Now that the release date of GPSK is nearing soon, Nandamuri Balakrishna is busy promoting his film all over. On this occasion, we caught up with him for a detailed interview. Let’s see what he has to say.

What made you accept GPSK as your 100th project?

I was listening to a lot of scripts for my 100th film. Even though I liked some stories, somehow GPSK’s script attracted me a lot. The way Krish narrated it and the whole historical touch in it made me accept the project right away.

Don’t you think it is a huge risk to do a historical project in this day and age?

Not at all. I am the kind of a person who never gets afraid to try out new things. I always feel that one should attempt different things then only you can be successful. Right from the beginning, the entire team believed in this project. Once we saw the entire film, our confidence has grown by multiple times.

What was the best thing that you liked about the script?

In fact, many did not know about this great king which ruled the Telugu land. The emotions the king faced, his problems, victories and what he did for the well-being of Telugu people attracted me immensely.

What kind of efforts went into this film from your side?

Krish’s strong vision and my dad’s driving force made me complete this film as soon as possible. Right through the making of this film, I always felt that my dad, NTR was watching and guiding me throughout.

Working with Krish?

He is a superb director and his vision is just amazing. In fact, I feel that he is the Steven Spielberg of Tollywood. All his films are quite different from each other and are quite entertaining too. His sincerity and hard work will surely take him a long way.

How did you manage the war scenes and all the difficult stunts?

Frankly speaking, I never learned horse riding or any other stunts in my life. Whenever a scene or film required me to do such stunts, I just took it as a challenge and did it on the spot. Same was the case for GPSK too as I performed most of the stunts on my own.

How confident are you about the film’s success?

After watching the film, I am very confident that GPSK is the best film as my 100th project. Krish has done a superb job and has only showcased what is necessary and historical. The manner in which he has narrated the film with all the necessary ingredients will make this film a huge hit.

A word about Sankranthi competition?

This is not the first time that two big hero films are coming out during the festival. The Sankranthi season is a time where both films will have their own success but I feel that if your film succeeds in such a tough fight, the happiness will be even more good.
