Dynamic producer Dil Raju, is a man with midas touch. All the films he produces turn out to be huge hits. His latest presentation is Sunil’s Krishnashtami which is up for release this Friday. On this occasion, we met him for a detailed interview. Let’s see what he has to say.
Q)Why has this film been delayed for so long ?
Initially, we wanted to release the film in December. But as a few important releases were announced, we had to back out. Now, after all the hype and hysteria of the Sankranthi releases has died down, we are releasing the film this Friday.
Q)How did this project materialize ?
Actually, Gopichand Malineni narrated this script long time back and we in turn approached Allu Arjun for the same. But as Bunny got busy with other projects and Gopi decided to direct Pandaga Chesko, I gave the responsibility to Vasu Varma and that is how the project materialized.
Q)How made you sign Sunil as the main lead ?
As our director Vasu shares a very close bond with Sunil, we narrated the script to him. Initially, he was a bit reluctant to do the film but after we made enough changes to suit his image, he was game for it.
Q)Vasu Varma has given a flop with Josh. Were you not apprehensive to sign him ?
Vasu has been a part and parcel of my team from a long time. He has played a key role in all our hit films and I completely believe in his capabilities. Josh was our collective judgement error as we got our basics wrong. Post the release of Krishnashtami, Vasu will become one of the promising directors.
Q)All your films are family entertainers. What is special about Krishnashtami ?
Frankly speaking, there is nothing new about our film. The way it has been narrated with ample entertainment will be a huge plus. You will see a new Sunil in our film.
Q)How confident are you about the film’s success ?
My formulae is quite simple. I don’t believe in reviews and feel that at least 70 % of the audience in the theatre should like the film. I am very clear in my judgement and understand it after watching the first show itself. If I know the film will not work, I openly tell it to the hero and my team.
Q)Has that situation happened with any of your heroes ?
Yes ! After watching the first show of Munna, I openly apologised to Prabhas that the film will end up as a disaster.
Q)So ! did you assess the fate of this film ?
Yes ! I am happy with the content of the film and it will do well according to my prediction. See, now a days every body has their own opinions after watching a film. Even though a film starts with a mixed talk, it will start doing well once the positive talk spreads.
Q)Has your project with Ravi Teja been shelved ?
Yes ! we decided to drop the project as of now. We will soon narrate the script to Nagarjuna and if he likes it, the film might shape up in the near future.
Q)What about your other film with Krishna Vamsi ?
That project is on and will be made in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil simultaneously. As of now, pre-production is currently on.
Q)What are your future projects ?
As of now, only Sai Dharam Tej’s supreme is on floors. Three of my other projects will also release this year.
Q) Finally, tell us about your dream project ?
Producing a film with Pawan Kalyan is my ultimate life ambition.
