Rarandoi Veduka Choddam has been in the news for many reasons of late. The family drama is up for a release this Friday and we caught up with Nagarjuna for a detailed interview.

How has the film turned out?

The film has turned out exceptionally well and I am very confident that it will be a huge hit all over. I have seen the film at least a 100 times on the editing table and the family audience will be in for a treat from Chay and Rakul Preet. The film is a collective effort from everyone and some stalwarts like Satyanand have worked on the script which made the film even better.

What made you choose Kalyan Krishna to direct this film?

Kalyan Krishna is a superb technician and knows the audience pulse completely. After the success of Soggade, I felt he was the right person to take the film forward. I also had a three film contract signed with him and so he was the obvious choice.

What’s new in Rarandoi Veduka Chooddam?

Relationships have changed a lot over the time. The way a boy and girl meet and how they treat their family relationships and adjust to their choices in this current world has been shown in a very interesting manner.

Will Naga Chaitanya be able to pull of a family drama like Rarandoi?

Chay has been born and brought up in completely different sensibilities altogether. He has a different approach towards his films but I sat him down and told him that it is a must to do a film like Rarandoi to get a universal liking. Believe me, he has done a wonderful job and has opened up like never before. He is in superb ease in front of the camera and post the film’s release he will be an even bigger hit as a star.

About DSP’s music?

DSP and I go a long way back. He has given some wonderful music for my films and even for Rarandoi, he is the major asset. He has such vast experience that I made him sit at the editing table to suggest changes in the scenes or background score. Devi is a very hard working person and that is the reason he is on top of his game for quite a long time now.

What do you have to say about Chalapati Rao’s comments?

I totally condemn his comments and would have done the same if it would have been anyone else. No one should encourage such statements which are very bad to hear.

About Rakul’s performance?

You will see a completely new Rakul in this film. I am super impressed with her performance as she will remind you of Sridevi and Tabu with this film. Rakul will win all your hearts with her standout performance in the film.

Looks like you are releasing the film on your own?

Yes ! as I am very confident, I am releasing the film myself in areas like Nizam, Vizag and Krishna. Sometimes you clearly know how the film has turned out and so take a chance to distribute it yourself.

Talk is that you are doing Mahabharata in Malayalam?

The makers had come to me to play the role of Karna and I am game for it. Things are at very early stage and it is better to talk only if the film materialises.

Among both your son’s who has got the producer’s streak more?

As of now, I have asked both my sons to concentrate on their careers and focus more on the post-production formalities of their films.

What do you have to say about Baahubali’s success?

Rajamouli has raised the bar so high that it is very difficult to match up to him now. Every scene of his showcases unmatched quality and also proves that if you put your egos aside and work for the betterment of the film, success will automatically come.

About your upcoming films?

After seeing the output of Raju Gari Gadhi 2, I have ordered for a 10 day re-shoot. I am still reading scripts and hopefully will sign some projects.
