Tamil hero Vishal is going to test his luck with the upcoming ‘Palnadu’. Apart from being the lead actor of the film, Vishal is also the producer of this movie. After the success of films like ‘Pandem Kodi’, Vishal did not taste too much success at the Box Office. He spoke to media personnel today about his upcoming film and about the motivation behind his decision to turn a producer.
Q. How did Palnadu film start?
A. Suseendran saw my film ‘Vaadu Veedu’ and he liked it immensely. He came to me with a new script and I was impressed. Many people commented about my suitability for the character. I took it as a challenge and acted in ‘Palnadu’.
Q. What can you tell us about your character in Palnadu?
A. I have played mass roles with powerful characterisations until now. In this movie, my role will be quite different. I will be seen as a guy who likes to stay away from quarrels. My character also stammers when subjected to extreme emotions. We have used this to generate humour in the first half of the film.
Q. You have proved yourself as an actor with ‘Vadu Veedu’. But you still seem to prefer action films. Any reason?
A. I have no specific preference. My directors wanted to showcase me in that way and they came to me with such scripts. As I said, it was ‘Vaadu Veedu’ that convinced Suseendran to approach me with this film. Vennelakanti, who pens the dialogues for my dubbed films, saw this movie and suggested a Palnadu backdrop.
Q. Why did you turn producer?
A. I faced some issues with my previous productions. Normally, films experience problems when a hero does not allot dates as required. But, after allotting dates perfectly and completing films on time, I used to face issues with release dates etc. I spent many sleepless nights due to such things. As a result, I decided to start my own production house. I did this out of frustration.
Q. When will you do a straight Telugu film?
A. I was supposed to do a straight Telugu film this year. But it got postponed due to various reasons. I will be working for this project soon and it will go onto sets next year.
Q. Rumours have been circulating about your marriage. What is your comment?
A. Palnadu is releasing on November 2nd. That is the only thing that I am certain about. I do not know about my marriage date (Smiles). I do not think I am ready yet.
Q. What are the highlights of the film ‘Palnadu’?
A. Veteran actor Bhagyaraj’s character will be quite special in this movie. His characterisation is a suspense. The climax episode is also going to be a special attraction and there will be an unexpected twist in the climax.
Q. What are your upcoming projects?
A. I will be working with UTV for one film and this movie will release in April next year. As I said, there will be a Telugu film. I am interested in working with newcomers after that.
