Happy Birthday Super Successful Rajamouli

Perhaps, it is time to rename S.S.Rajamouli as Super Successful Rajamouli. Jakkanna, as he is known by his close friends, is now the toast of Tollywood and the most successful director of the Industry. He has pushed the envelope of Telugu cinema and has blurred the line between creativity and commercial viability. Rajamouli was born on 10th October 1973 in Raichur, Karnataka, to Mr. & Mrs. Vijayendra Prasad.

He started out as an associate of legendary director K.Raghavendra Rao, and directed TV serials under his production.He made his debut as a film director with Young Tiger NTR’s ‘Student No. 1’ and followed it up with ‘Simhadri’. The rest, as they say, is history.

In the years following Simhadri, he has scored superb successes with Nitin, Prabhas and Ravi Teja but the year 2009 turned out to be a turning point for him. His film ‘Magadheera’, with Mega Power Star Ram Charan in the lead, hit the screens and went on to rewrite the Box Office history of Telugu Cinema.

In fact, his cousin and music director M.M.Keeravani says that Rajamouli’s career can be categorized into ‘Before Magadheera’ and ‘After Magadheera’. Since Magadheera, Rajamouli has started experimenting with scripts, subjects and film making techniques. He made Telugu cinema proud once again in 2012 with the magnum opus ‘Eega’. The movie conquered the Box Office not only in Andhra Pradesh, but in Tamil Nadu as well. And the movie is now gearing up for a promising Bollywood release.
