Lakshmi Manchu is on cloud nine these days, thanks to the good response her recent film Gundello Godaari had got in Andhra Pradesh. The film, directed by Kumar Nagendra, had Lakshmi Manchu, Taapsee, Aadhi and Sundeep Kishan in lead roles. Apart from the performances by the lead actors, the floods sequence and Palani’s cinematography, Ilayaraja’s background score got good response. To celebrate the film’s success, the entire film unit met the media at an event held earlier today in Hyderabad.
Talking about the response which the film has been getting, Lakshmi Manchu said, “I was extremely tensed before the film’s release. Although my father (Mohan Babu) came forth to lend me some money, I hesitated because I was adamant that I wanted to do everything on my own. There was a point where I completely ran out of money and I didn’t even know if we could recover the budget. My brother Manchu Manoj was a pillar of support for me throughout that stage and he kept telling me to not worry so much. Today, I am extremely happy with the response for the film. I would have celebrated had my film released in 100 theatres with 40% occupancy, but I was thrilled when it released in close to 250 theatres with very good occupancy. I think we’ll make enough money to clear the debt and now I’m eagerly looking forward to the film’s release in Tamil Nadu.” The Tamil version of the film, Maranthen Mannithen will release on March 22.
