Celestial carnatic music exponent and legendary playback singer KJ Yesudas has been conferred with the county’s second highest civilian award, Padma Vibhushan.
Born on 10 January 1940, Kattassery Joseph Yesudas aka KJ Yesudas made his debut in playback singing over five decades ago and has recorded more than 50,000 songs in several regional languages and foreign languages like English, Russian, Malay, Arabic and Latin etc.
In his illustrious career, Yesudas has won 7 National Awards, 5 Filmfare Awards and 43 state government awards. Yesudas was awarded the Padma Shri in 1975 and Padma Bhushan in 2002.
