Legendary Telugu actor Sri N.T.Rama Rao and Dr. Mohan Babu teamed up in 1993 for the project ‘Major Chandrakanth’. The film was released 20 years ago on this day and it became a big hit of the year. The film was directed by K.Raghavendra Rao and Mohan Babu produced it.

Dr. Mohan Babu spoke to the press on this occasion and he had some interesting things to share. “I went up to Anna NTR and asked him for an opportunity to produce a film with him. He was taken aback. ‘I have lost in the elections. Who will watch me on the big screen now?’, said NTR. I did not give up. I persisted and Major Chandrakanth happened”, said Dr. Mohan Babu.

Mohan Babu went on to say “I offered a sum of Rs 25 lakhs as an advance to NTR for the film. He took 2 lakhs only and asked me to complete the film first. The final amount that I gave him remains a secret between me and NTR garu”.

Amrish Puri,Saradha, Ramya Krishna, Nagma and Brahmanandam are the other lead actors in ‘Major Chandrakanth’.
