Madala Ravi demands special status for Andhra Pradesh, participating in the padda yatra from Ananthapur to Srikakulam led by CPI and CPM and all LEFT parties which gained huge support from the people of Andhra Pradesh. Madala Ravi requested that all the student and youth organisations, trade unions, Workers and Agricultural peasants associations, Peoples Artistes, Writers, NRIs Progressive associations, intellectuals, NGOs, Film and TV actors, Media and all political parties should unite for the common cause and fight for special status for Andhra Pradesh.
He also stated that during the division of two states when former prime minister Sri. Manmohan Singh proposed five years special status for AP, Sri. Venkaiah Naidu had fought and insisted for 10 years of special status for Andhra Pradesh. BJP had stated in their election manifesto that if they win along with their alliance with TDP their first and foremost promise was to grant special status for AP but after winning in the elections BJP has completely ignored their promise and changed their stand on special status which is unfair. So, all sections of our society mentioned above should unite and fight for special status for Andhra Pradesh and also fight for unity among the Telugu people in both the states.
