Rajinikanth, Nana Patekar starrer Kaala is gearing up for a wide release in June, and for the past few days, the team behind the film has been revealing interesting stories about the film. Directed by Pa Ranjith, the film has been produced by Dhanush and Lyca Productions.

So far, we know that the story is set in Mumbai, where Rajinikanth will be seen as a protector of his people in the Dharavi slum, and that Huma Qureshi will be seen as his love interest. Nana Patekar has played the role of a politician. Now, the film’s cinematographer, Murali stated that the film’s core theme is rapid urbanisation and globalisation, and how people living in slums are never allowed to grow in life. “The film talks a lot about land politics and the tussle between Rajinikanth and Nana Patekar will be a treat to watch,” Murali said.

In a recent interview, he was all praise for Rajinikanth’s offscreen charisma and stated that his passion for cinema is quite inspiring. “Generally, we tend to get bored of films after working on 4-5 films, but Rajini sir has the same kind of passion and enthusiasm on the sets which a newcomer has. He has been acting in films since mid ’70s and has delivered numerous blockbusters, but he still doesn’t take anything for granted. It was inspiring to see him from up close,” Murali added.
