Siddharth has been roped in to play the lead role in the Telugu and Tamil remake of Lucia. Earlier this year, Lucia, a Kannada film directed by Pawan Kumar, made waves across the country for being the first crowd-funded film in Kannada. It went on to become a big hit in Kannada and it was also screened in few film festivals. Recently, Fox Star Studios bought the Hindi remake rights of this film.

CV Kumar, one of the most prominent Tamil film producers today, has bought the remake rights to make Lucia in Telugu and Tamil. In the past, he had produced films like Pizza, Villa (Pizza 2), which started a new trend in Tamil cinema. Siddharth was extremely happy to team up with CV Kumar and tweeted saying, “Very thrilled to be working with pathbreaking producer CV Kumar @vijayvyoma (Pizza, Soodhu Kavvum). Young & talented team. Wish us luck:).”

He also praised Pawan Kumar, the director of Lucia, and said, “‘Lucia’ really affected me when I saw it. The original director Pawan Kumar deserves all the praise coming his way. Hope we do justice:)” Incidentally, Lucia is the first official remake which Siddharth has signed in Telugu and Tamil; although some of his previous films like Jabardasth and Aata had quite a few similarities with other films. The remake of Lucia is going to be directed by Prasad Ramar and Santosh Narayan is going to score the music. The film’s shooting will begin in January.
