TAGDV (Telugu Associaiton of Greater Delaware Valley) organized the Sankranthi celebrations in Bharatiya Temple, Philadelphia on January 18th, 2014, which turned out to be a great success with attendance of over 400 people. Sankranthi event started at 5:00 PM with a welcome speech by Suresh Reddy followed by Ganesha Prayer song by Shiva Nuthanapati. The cultural programs for the event such as dance, singing performed by local talent of various age groups were very well represented and was a pleasure to watch. Participants as young as 4 years old gave a scintillating performances demanding applause from the audience for all age groups.
Masters of ceremony Mrs. Srilakshmi Kulkarnai & Mr. Suresh Reddy welcomed the audience and hosted the succeeding events.
TAGDV President Mr. Ravi Potluri presiding over the function invited the audience and guests to the event and sincerely expressed his gratitude for the grand patrons and sponsors; he also expressed awe and gratitude to Annapoornalu who prepared the delicious food & volunteers and the executive committee who worked tirelessly throughout the event.
TAGDV paid rich tributes to Great Actor Sri. Nandamuri Tarakarama rao (NTR) on his 18th death anniversary. TAGDV President Mr. Ravi Potluri remembered NTR’s services to the telugu cinema & telugu people and requested audience to observe a minute of silence as a mark of respect to Mr. Nandamuri Tarakarama rao (NTR) , audience observed silence for a minute, all audience standing, as a mark of respect to the memory of NTR.
MC Srilakshmi Kulkarni welcomed and introduced the singers Mrs. Anitha Krishna & Mr. Srinivas Josyula and Music Director Mr. Praveen Lakkaraju. The evening was filled with non-stop singing performances by Mrs. Anitha Krishna & Mr. Srinivas Josyula and well received by packed audience. TAGDV executive committee members felicitated the singers. MC Srilakshmi Kulkarni did wonderful job. The host and all the guests stayed until the end of the program and thoroughly enjoyed the programs. Drawing and Rangavalli (Muggulu) competitions were held and the judges distributed prizes to the winners in various categories.
A notable mention for the event was the participation of the people in the contribution of homemade delicious food which was prepared and served by Annapoornalu. Audience congratulated Mr. Ravi Potluri for his leadership when he mentioned that was made possible by the outstanding support by the executive committee members Mallik Budhavarapu (Vice- President), Harinath Bungatavula (Secretary), Suresh Reddy (Joint Secretary), Sambaiah Kotapati (Treasurer), Vijayabhaskar Polamreddy (Joint Treasurer) and Members at Large – Anu Tummala, Kiran Kothapalli, Sreedhar Gudala, Bhaskar Sarikonda, Bobby Yerra, Vijayasri Parchuri, Narayana Reddy, Rammohan Talluri & Saritha Anumula. TAGDV Secretary Mr. Harinath Bungatavula delivered the vote of thanks and thanked all the people by naming them who played a major role in the success of the event followed by Indian National Anthem Janaganamana. TAGDV also thanking TV9 & TV5 Management for the continuous support.
