‘King’ Nagarjuna’s upcoming period drama ‘Rajanna’ has a very interesting story line. The story was revealed by none other than Nagarjuna himself in a casual press meet held at Annapurna Seven Acres. We came away impressed with the story and the way in which Nagarjuna narrated it. Here is the basic story for you folks.
Mallamma is Rajanna’s daughter. She loses her parents when she’s just a baby and grows up in the village of Nelakondapalli in Adilabad district along with an old man. She is loved by everyone in the village and she has a gift for singing beautifully. She does not know that she is Rajanna’s daughter. Neither do any of the villagers. But she adores him and worships him.
The Dorasani of the village hates Mallamma as her own daughter cannot sing. She forbids Mallamma from singing and threatens her with death. A defiant Mallamma continues to sing and the Dorasani attacks her family. Fed up with the atrocities being committed, Mallamma decides to bring the hardships of the people of her region to the notice of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. She embarks on a lonely journey from Adilabad to Delhi.
With the help of various strangers, she finally makes it and comes to know of a singing competition where Nehru would be attending. She manages to gain an entry there. The Dorasani comes to know about this and wants to stop Mallamma from talking to Nehru at all costs. As she is hounded by the Dorasani’s men even in Delhi, she loses all hope. It is then that the story of Rajanna is revealed to her.
Rajanna is a heroic figure, who fights against the British and after Independence, heads to his native village. He is fed up with the atrocities being committed there and inspires the people to rise up in revolt against the Razakars. A series of events happen and Rajanna puts up a heroic fight and sacrifices himself to successfully save his village against the attack of the Razakars. There are some stunning battle sequences and some spectacular visual effects in this episode.
Will Mallamma finally be able to overcome the obstacles she is facing?
That is the story folks. So as was speculated earlier, Nagarjuna is not in a guest role. He has done a full length, power packed role in the movie.
