Akkineni Naga Chaitanya and Samantha’s ‘Autonagar Surya’ generated a lot of hype sometime back. Directed by Deva Katta, the movie had a lot of things going for it – Interesting story, Deva Katta’s reputation, Chaitanya and Samantha’s combo etc. The first look and teaser were received very well. Despite all this, the film seems to be stuck in limbo. The financial troubles of R.R.Movie Makers banner have hit the film hard. No one has a clear cut idea about the film’s fate now.
When we asked a few of our sources in the industry, we have been told that Akkineni Nagarjuna is trying his best to take over the film from the hands of R.R. Movie Makers. About 10 days of shoot and post production activities remain and Nagarjuna is trying to buy the film in an ‘as is’ condition, in order to complete it and get it ready for release. But the negotiations have reportedly been stuck over a few issues, one of which is the issue of the right price.
Will the film ever see the light of day? That is a question which cannot be answered with any conviction right now. The actors and the director have moved on to other ventures. It is quite sad when films end up in cans for commercial reasons, so let us hope that ‘Autonagar Surya’ sees the light of day soon.
