The newly appointed governor to the state, Narasimhan has adopted a rather stern tone to address some of the problems plaguing the higher education in India. He was addressing a conference of Vice Chancellors of different universities from AP who had gathered in Hyderabad. He asked the VCs to follow the rules and regulations set forth by the government to run the respective educational institutions and asked them to submit a report once every 3 months. Narasimhan warned the VCs of strict action if the exams and results aren’t conducted and declared respectively as per the schedule. He opined that students shouldn’t lose their academic year for any reason whatsoever and added that it’s the VCs responsibility to make sure students don’t lose valuable time. He concluded his speech by warning that he would sack those who are irresponsible while on duty. Interestingly, he said that Universities have no shortage of funding, however the infrastructure is still in a bad state because of poor managing of funds.
