The cost cutting measures of companies are taking ther tolls on some of the most taken for granted facilities of the employees. Forget pay hikes at the end of the appraisal period, pay cuts are being effected in companies now. Though there have not been major layoffs like in the US, recruitments have come to a grinding halt and HR consultancy firms are facing the pinch. Employees who used to receive huge bonuses on recruitments are now being awarded a fixed amount a month. Also, many of the employees complain that the firms used to provide them tea five times a day earlier, but now, they are only giving tea twice a day. People in share brokerage business are lamenting that they are being put under tremendous pressure from their employers regarding investments. They are given a general target of investments that they need to generate but due to the current uncertainty in the markets, reaching those targets has become practically impossible.
