Khai Muk has crossed over, but the danger still lurks. Weather officials have warned of a low pressure area formed in the wake of Khai Muk which could result in heavy rainfall in the Rayalaseema and South Telengana districts today. The low pressure was last tracked as being centered around Nandyal town. Meanwhile the district administration is receiving information on extensive crop damage for Chilli and Cotton farmers. While Cotton crops were submerged, the Chilli produce was losing its colour and farmers here are afraid that the middlemen will squeeze them hard on prices. On the flip side, Tobacco, paddy and chicken farmers were grateful for the rain as it would greatly benefit their rabi crops. Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in many areas in coastal AP and Telengana in the next 48 hours. Hyderabad too has been experiencing continuous drizzle and light rain since last evening and there are reports streaming in of water entering low lying areas in Old city. |
