Dr. YSR had always maintained the best of relations with Central Minister
Jairam Ramesh. The latter is reciprocating the affection. A.P has now
become the first state to get a grant of Rs. 8000 crores under the APDR
(Accelerated Power Distribution Reforms) program. The APDR is aimed at
reducing losses pertaining to power distribution to the extent of 15%.
While the nationwide APDR budget is Rs. 50,000 crores, it is thanks to the
intervention of the CM that, AP alone is getting Rs. 8000 crores. State
Minister Shabbir Ali and the CM, Dr. YSR had an intense session with
officials of the concerned departmenst and urged them to get going with
modalities. Works related to APDR will commence in 142 villages, towns and
cities in the State. Jairam Ramesh also declared that a 2000 MW power
project will be set up in Tummalapally in Kadapa District.
