The parents of Shashank Pulluri have made an appeal to the state and central governments to help them get immediate visas to go their son in the US. Shashank's father P Sudhakar Rao is a sub-registrar in the Cooperative department and his mother Padmavathi is a teacher. The district SP VC Sajjanar immediately cleared their passport applications and they are likely to get their papers in the next two days, following which they can go to Chennai. The latest incident is the 9th in a series of shootings this year. Mostly, students from the state have been made targets of these shootings and the US authorities are struggling to connect the seemingly stray incidents. Shashank was shot by three African Americans who fled the scene after firing at him. One bullet hit Shashank in his liver. Two surgeries were conducted on him and he is being treated in the ICU. No one has been allowed to see Shashank so far.
