‘Eetharam’ Films is known for some good movies which are predominantly action based. With ‘Em Pillo Em Pillado’ they bring in young hero Tanish and Telugu film debutante Pranitha. It seems like a youthful film that has its core story in a rural setting, where feuds between villages are common. Whether the ‘pillo pillado’ make an impact on the audience is a question this review will try to find an answer to!

What’s It About: Ram (Tanish) is an easy going college student, who stays with his professor GSR (Chandra Mohan). Also staying with him are a few of his class mates, and Bhadramma (Pranitha). Obviously Ram keeps teasing Pranitha, and of course Pranitha keeps hitting back whenever she can. It seems they hate each other, and then cupid strikes the two. Unfortunately for them, they both belong to two feuding villages, and each of them is son and a daughter of the warring village heads.

Hence the young couple decides that they should stop the feud between the villages, irrespective of what happens to them! How they plan, and how they execute their plan and at what cost forms the rest of the film.

What is Good: Tanish gets a chance to perform a bit more than what he normally does in other films. He does well. Pranitha looks glamorous. Senior actor Ahuthi Prasad, Charan Raj make their characters believable, while Vijay Chandar does good in what little chance he gets. Chandra Mohan dons interesting make-ups for a song.

The drama towards the climax of the film is the best part of the film, as all senior and junior actors perform well. Mani Sharma’s music is good too. The director A.S.Ravi Kumar Chowdary manages to showcase the violent set up without showing too many fight scenes.

What is bad: The problem with ‘Em Pillo Em Pillado’ is that the producers gave away the film’s storyline in its trailers and there is hardly any surprise left in it. The first half concentrates heavily on the problems between the hero and heroine to attract the youth, and it is only towards its end that we see some movement in the story.

While the second half had the scope for ‘upping the ante’ the film plays safe with tried and tested methods.

Technical Departments: Mani Sharma is easily one amongst the best re-recording masters in India today. The film holds lot of its credit to him, though Mani Sharma’s songs are far from his best. The costumes designer ensures that Pranitha looks glamorous whenever she is seen on the screen. Editing is worth mentioning too.

Final Point: The idea that when two village heads are warring, they also cause the downfall of their respective villages is good. The story of a lover couple coming from two warring villages trying to unite their families is not new. However, a film’s presentation is what connects it to the audience. ‘Em Pillo Em Pillado’ attempts at such presentation and has the commercial standing to make good at box office.
