Vishal Wants To Revamp Tamil Film Industry
Published on Mar 20, 2018 3:50 am IST

Tamil film industry has come to a stand still due to a strike called upon by the producer’s council, owing to several issues including their ongoing fight with digital service providers, computerisation of ticketing etc. However, Vishal, the president of the producer’s council, termed it more as an opportunity to revamp the industry instead of calling it as a strike.

Speaking to the media, Vishal said, “We have been talking to various associations in the industry to express our concerns about the business of filmmaking, exhibition, and also actor’s remunerations. We want to bring in more transparency which is why we have been demanding for computerisation of ticket booking, which will also have an impact on the remunerations and budgets of films.” Moreover, the producer’s council has proposed a plan to regularise the number of screens allotted to films so that even small films find takers in the end.

“Our aim is to make it a level playing field for everyone. This will help us function better in the long run,” Vishal added. It remains to be seen how everyone in the industry is going to react to these proposed measures.
