Star Tamil actor-director duo Vijay-AR Murugadoss’ 2014 blockbuster action drama, Kaththi, was remade in Telugu as Khaidi No.150 with Chiranjeevi and went on to become a huge hit. A couple of years ago, there was an official announcement regarding Kaththi’s Bollywood remake, titled Ikka.
However, soon after the title announcement, Kaththi’s Hindi remake was put on the back burner. Now, the latest update is that Bollywood star Akshay Kumar will reprise Vijay’s dual roles in Kaththi’s Bollywood remake. Interestingly, Jagan Shakti, the debutant who’s directed Akshay’s soon-to-release film Mission Mangal, will be directing Kaththi’s Hindi version.
One of Bollywood’s leading production houses Viacom18 will bankroll Kaththi’s Bollywood remake. Details about the film’s launch date and cast and crew are awaited.
