Thanks to the Covid scare, so many producers are releasing their films on OTT platforms. In the last two years or so, several OTT platforms have risen from nowhere and are grabbing the rights of some big Telugu films and shows.
Players like Amazon, Netflix, Sony Liv, Hotstar, and many others have been luring the producers by offering them big money for these rights. On the other hand, the producers, who are not sure of the collections during these covid times are happily selling their films with table profits to be on the safe side.
A few days back, members of the Telangana film chamber members also held a press meet and asked the producers not to opt for the digital release as it will kill the theatre business.
Some producers are also not happy that this OTT culture is growing big as they feel that the budgets will not rise and movies will be made on a calculated note and will be sold for a marginal profit.
Also, as these films will release digitally, the actual success rate of the film cannot be measured properly. All this is killing the business and movie-watching experience.
But as films like Narappa, Dirshnyam 2, and Tuck Jagadish opting for an OTT release, many other producers are getting tempted to sell their films to these OTT platforms and be on the safe side which is not good in the long run.
