Thalapathy Vijay is set to entertain audiences with his Pongal release, Jana Nayagan. Directed by H. Vinoth, the film is inspired by Balakrishna’s Bhagavanth Kesari and features additional elements. Pooja Hegde plays the female lead. The film was sent to the censor board some time ago, but the certificate is yet to be issued.
Due to the delay in the certification process, theatres have been unable to open advance bookings. As a result, the makers have filed a petition in the Madras High Court seeking directions for the issuance of the censor certificate. It is being said that the inclusion of political dialogues is the reason behind the delay.
The court has taken up the matter, but the hearing has been adjourned until tomorrow. This has turned into a wait-and-watch situation, further delaying the start of advance bookings.
Bobby Deol plays the antagonist, while Mamitha Baiju reprises the role originally played by Sreeleela. Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Sunil, Priyamani, and Narain appear in supporting roles.
The film is produced by Venkat K. Narayana under the KVN Productions banner, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Jana Nayagan will release in Telugu as Jana Nayakudu. The biggie hits the big screens on January 9, 2026.
