Bollywood megastar Salman Khan will next be seen in the war-action drama Maatrubhumi – May War Rest In Peace, which was earlier titled Battle of Galwan. The film’s teaser and two songs were released recently, and the Hindi biggie is once again in the spotlight for a crucial reason.

The makers have officially changed the film’s title, with the song title Maatrubhumi now becoming the movie’s new name. A poster featuring the updated title has also been unveiled online.

The title change has sparked curiosity among fans and movie lovers. Since the film is based on the June 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops in Ladakh, reports suggested that the Ministry of Defence had sought a screening of the movie before its release.

The film also landed in controversy after its teaser drew criticism from Chinese state-run media, which accused it of distorting facts related to the Galwan clash. Indian reports, however, viewed it as an external political backlash rather than an Indian government ban.

With the latest development, many believe the issue has now been resolved and that the title change may have come in response to the objections surrounding the original title. As per reports, the film is likely to arrive in cinemas in April 2026, though an official release date is yet to be announced.

Directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Salman Khan, the film stars Chitrangda Singh as the female lead, while Abhilash Chaudhary plays a key role.
