Dhanush’s latest film Kara hit the screens last Friday with passable word of mouth, but the box office response has been underwhelming.

Despite decent initial talk, the film has failed to translate that into strong collections. Even the weekend numbers remained dull, which is a worrying sign for the makers.

Surprisingly, the film is not performing well even in Tamil Nadu, Dhanush’s primary market. Based on real-life incidents, the film features Mamitha Baiju as the female lead.

In the Telugu states, the response has been even weaker, with the film struggling to attract audiences. Overall, Kara has not lived up to expectations so far.
