Ram Charan’s Peddi, also starring Janhvi Kapoor, will lock horns with Varun Dhawan’s rom-com Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, which features Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur as the female leads. The Bollywood film is produced by Ramesh Taurani and directed by Varun Dhawan’s father, David Dhawan. In a recent interview, Ramesh Taurani spoke about the box-office clash.

In an exclusive chat with HT City, the producer said, “Ab kya kar sakte hain, kuchh nahi. Koi na koi toh aayega hi (What can be done? Nothing. One or the other film keeps arriving). There are 52 weeks in a year; someone will clash. It’s okay.” When asked if the release date would be changed for the Varun Dhawan starrer, Ramesh Taurani firmly stated that he has no such intentions.

Initially scheduled to hit theatres on June 5, the film’s release date was changed multiple times. It was first postponed to June 12 from June 5 after Yash announced Toxic for a June 4 release. Later, the makers surprised one and all by preponing the release to May 22. After Yash announced Toxic’s postponement from June 4, the makers of Varun Dhawan’s film stuck to the original plan of June 5 release.

Interestingly, Ram Charan’s Peddi has also faced multiple postponements. Earlier announced for a March 26 release, the makers later pushed it to April 30. Then it was said that the sports action drama directed by Buchi Babu Sana will be released in June, but no date was specified. When Toxic’s postponement was announced, Peddi team seized the opportunity and announced a June 4 release.
