During a special interaction with Buchi Babu Sana for Peddi promotions, Ram Charan spoke about his shelved sports film Merupu. The film was supposed to be directed by Tamil filmmaker Dharani, and Kajal Agarwal was roped in as the female lead. However, it didn’t materialize and was ultimately shelved. Buchi Babu Sana recalled Charan’s interview during Merupu days, where the star said it’s his wish to feature in a sports film.
The director revealed that the old interview made him approach Charan for Peddi. Mega Power Star replied, “Yes, we shot the film for 10 days, and later the project got stalled. The technology that existed back then didn’t support the game (football) we chose.”
Buchi Babu Sana said, “I thought Charan sir wanted to do a sports film that time, and now I have fulfilled that wish by bringing in the crossover athlete concept.” The movie, also starring Janhvi Kapoor, releases on June 4.
