Samantha’s Maa Inti Bangaaram is among the very few Tollywood films to have achieved profits in every territory this year. The movie has already attained blockbuster status and is still going strong at the ticket windows. In an interview with Variety India, Samantha was asked if she feels validated now with the film’s success.
The actress answered, “I don’t think it has fully sunk in, as yet. We made this film on an extremely tight budget. There were hard and difficult days as we wanted to keep the number of shoot days as few as possible. Before the release, we were not sure about recovering the budget because we had no clue if we were going to sell even one ticket. Because that’s the state of this industry right now. Yes. One can never tell what works and what does not work.”
Samantha opined that filmmakers need to have belief and trust that they are making films for the right reasons. She added that female audiences have always been ready to support female-led films, but they simply haven’t been given enough of them.
