Mirzapur: The Movie had a remarkable first weekend, with sensational collections across all circuits. It’s not an easy feat for a film based on an OTT series to bring audiences to theatres, and Mirzapur has come out on top with flying colors.
On the make-or-break Monday, Mirzapur had a phenomenal hold, collecting Rs. 17 crores nett (Rs. 28 crores nett on day 1). The real value hold is bigger than it appears, since the opening-day business was boosted by the Janmashtami holiday. Achieving a double-digit collection on Monday itself is a big task, but Mirzapur: The Movie went far beyond the Rs. 10 crore mark, setting itself on track for blockbuster status.
The hold on Monday is also far bigger than that of the hit film Dhamaal 4. Also, the makers opted for discounted ticket prices on Tuesday, and as a result, the bookings witnessed a monstrous surge. So far, the movie has earned Rs. 114 crores nett in India, and today is set to be much bigger than Monday.
Lately, some films have witnessed bigger drops on Wednesday instead of Monday, due to Tuesday discounts, and if Mirzapur: The Movie can avoid that, it can easily go beyond the superhit status.
