Election Commission of India officially recognizes Janasena’s Glass Tumbler symbol

The Election Commission of India has formally reserved the ‘Glass Tumbler’ symbol for the Pawan Kalyan-led Janasena Party. Confirming the same, the Election Commission on Tuesday sent a formal letter to Janasena President Pawan Kalyan, revealed the party’s communication wing. Following this order, the glass tumbler symbol will solely be allocated to the Janasena Party in the upcoming general elections, and it will not be allocated to other independent candidates.

Following the Election Commission’s latest decision, the Janasena Party has been formally recognized as a registered political party after more than ten years since its formation. It’s worth mentioning that in May last year, ahead of the general election, the Election Commission of India had directed the Returning Officers (ROs) to freeze the ‘Glass Tumbler’ symbol in all the Assembly constituencies where the Janasena Party had contested so that the symbol cannot be allotted to independent candidates or candidates of Registered Unrecognized Political Parties (RUPP). This order was made after Janasena filed a house motion petition in the High Court.

In the historic 2024 general election, the Janasena Party had emerged victorious by winning all the 21 assembly and 2 parliamentary seats it contested. This was followed by Pawan Kalyan becoming the Deputy CM and minister of Andhra Pradesh in the alliance government.
