Krishna Day 1: Jersey, Kanchana 3 & Majili fight an equal battle

Yesterday, amid high expectations from fans and trade circles, Nani’s emotional sports drama, Jersey, and Lawrence’s horror comedy, Kanchana 3, hit screens. While Jersey received unanimous positive reviews, Kanchana 3 has enthralled the audiences in B, C centres across the twin Telugu states.

On day 1, in Krishna district, Jersey collected a decent distributor share of Rs 33.80 lakhs. Thanks to the glowing reviews, the film is expected to collect huge over the weekend. On the other hand, Kanchana 3 performed equally well and collected Rs 30.13 lakh share in the Krishna region, which is Rs 3.67 lakh share less than Jersey’s day 1 collections.

To compare, Naga Chaitanya’s Majili, which released on April 5 to ultra positive reviews, collected a share of Rs 36.44 lakhs on its opening day in Krishna district. Yesterday, the film collected a share of Rs 1.37 lakh, taking its total 15-day share to Rs 1.71 crore.

Finally, Sai Dharam Tej’s Chitralahari released on April 12 and received decent to average reviews. The film collected Rs 24.23 lakh share on day 1 in Krishna district. Yesterday, Chitralahari collected Rs 95,517 share and the film’s total 8-day Krishna share is Rs 72.67 lakhs.

Clearly, Majili, Jersey and Lawrence’s Kanchana 3 have had a neck and back battle on day 1 in Krishna district, while Chitralahari lagged behind in the race. With the elections fever coming to an end and the IPL still posing a tough challenge, the box-office performance of Jersey and Kanchana 3 remains to be seen.
