Great positive buzz surrounded the release of Drishyam, which is a simple tale, yet an extremely path -breaking film, something very different that the Telugu Audiences have seen in a long long time. That such a special film happens to be the Golden Jubilee offering from the Legendary Production house, Suresh Productions, founded by Dr. Ramanaidu in 1964, is a great co-incidence.
In yet another unprecedented move for a Telugu film, the producers organized special focus group screenings of the film, three days ahead of the Film’s release and the responses have been fabulous. The Producers also arranged for a premiere for the Film Industry, followed by Special screenings for the Media and the Police on Tuesday. Several film personalities and the attendees praised Victory Venkatesh’s bold choice of the film and his keenness to do roles that stand out in his career. Nadia, the gorgeous actor who stormed back on to Telugu Screens with ‘Attarintiki Daredi’ and ‘Mirchi’. returns yet again with a key role in the film which is powerful, intense and yet heart rending. Meena as Venkatesh’s wife and their two children walk away with accolades for their performances.
The beauty of the film is that it is such an unusual film for Telugu audiences, in fact it creates a new genre of being a ‘Family Thriller’, and at the same time, it is so relatable that every single family connects with the characters in the film, their situations, their determined efforts to stay together in the wake of turbulent times and take on the system. It blends the themes of a family drama and a crime thriller effortlessly. Several publications and websites have already carried excellent reviews of the film.
Drishyam which is a remake of the 2013 Biggest Blockbuster of All time in Malayalam starring Mohan Lal in the lead is co-produced in Telugu, by Suresh Productions pvt.ltd & Rajkumar Theatres Pvt. Ltd.
