Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Ch Vidyasagar Rao on Wednesday accused Union Home Minister P Chidambaram of trying to buy time to delay the decision on Telangana state.
Referring to Chidambaram’s recent statement that there would be some movement on Telangana decision after Eid, the BJP leader said that the Union Minister and other spokespersons was making irrelevant statements without making their party’s stand clear on the issue. He said that these ‘unnecessary’ statements would frustrate the Telangana people and asked him to not test their patience.
Vidyasagar Rao demanded that the Centre introduces Telangana Bill in the winter session of parliament under Article 3 of the Constitution. He reiterated that the BJP leaders would help the government to pass the bill without causing any embarrassment to government.
The BJP leader also advised Governor ESL Narasimhan to stop sending wrong reports to Centre over the situation in the Telangana region. “The governor should act responsibly and help the Centre to take a decision on Telangana by sending factual report on situation in the region,” he stated.
Vidyasagar Rao also appealed to the state government to take steps for welfare of farmers in the Telangana region, especially those who were affected due to drought and frequent power cuts. He demanded that the government waive interest of farmers on crop loans and reschedule them considering their pathetic situation. (INN)
