BJP senior leader Bandaru Dattatreya on Sunday announced that the party’s core committee would take a decision on Monday on whether or not to contest the by-elections to be held on March 18.
Talking to media persons at the party office at Nampally, Bandaru Dattatreya stated that the party has decided not to contest from the Mahbubnagar constituency if Vijaya Lakshmi, the widow of former MLA Rajeshwar Reddy contest as an independent candidate. If Vijaya Lakshmi contests on any party ticket, the BJP would field its candidate, he stated.
Stating that the BJP has no differences with Telangana Political Joint Action Committee, he said the JAC would not interfere in the political decision of any party and focus its attention on the statehood agitation and coordinate with others to achieve its goal.
Stating the 22 days Telangana Porubata has received overwhelming response in the region, he hoped that the party candidates would receive favourable response from the people in by-elections.
Responding on the State Budget-2012-13, he termed it as ‘anti-welfare’ and presented in a hasty manner without giving thought on schemes and programmes. He said Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayan Reddy has not mentioned anything on how he would mobilise funds for the welfare schemes and development programmes.
Stating that the Budget was presented with inflated figures, he asked the Finance Minister to explain as to why he was levying heavy taxes on common people and burdening them. (INN)
