Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday claimed that the successful conduct of second phase of Rachabanda programme would minimise the problems being faced by the people in the State.
Speaking after launching the programme at Jaggampet in East Godavari district, the Chief Minister listed out the measures proposed to be implemented during the month long programme across the State. He said that as many as six lakh new ration cards would be issued and nearly three lakh house site would be sanctioned for the poor people in the State. He said that over 50 lakh families would get benefited in the second phase of Rachabanda programe.
Stating that the programme has been aimed to solve the problems being faced by the people, he said nearly in East Godavari alone nearly 37,000 new pensions would be sanctioned and 38,000 house site would be sanctioned.
The Chief Minister also announced that after March next year, people would be able to get their quote of ration from any ration dealer across the State. However, he did not disclose further details on how this system would be imposed and how the people would get benefitted out of it. He also informed that the Civil Supplies Department would soon release a toll free number wherein people would be able to express their grievances related to procuring of ration. He said the department would act on all complaints on immediate basis to ensure that poor people do not face any difficulty in getting ration.
Kiran Kumar Reddy said that with an aim to resolve people’s programme, the State Government has decided to observe the month of November as ‘Welfare Month’.
Later, the Chief Minister also launched the programme in the Visakhapatnam district.
It may be mentioned that a total of 1116 mandals and 134 municipalities would be covered under the Rachabanda-II. Distribution of nearly 24 lakh ration cards, 5 lakh pensions and six lakh housing sanction orders would be done during the programme. It is also proposed to ensure drinking water facilities in 6958 rural schools in this round of Rachabanda.
Earlier, the Chief Minister had earlier issued an appeal to the people and elected representatives of the Telangana region to make this programme success. The appeal was apparently made to take the people out of the 42-day general strike hangover. In Telangana region, three schemes – Rachabanda, Indira Jala Prabha and Rythu Mahila Sadassulu – have been integrated and they were likely to benefit about 55 lakh people at a cost of Rs 1,300 crore.
