The Andhra Pradesh High Court adjourned the hearing to Saturday on a petition filed by joint venture of Soma-China Gezhouba Group against SEW-Patel-AMR joint venture challenging that the authorities have violated the procedures in awarding the contract of Polavaram multi-purpose irrigation project.
While adjourning the petition, the court asked the Advocate General to submit a report to clarify whether the government informed other bidders about awarding of contract to SEW-Patel-AMR joint venture. Further, the court directed the Advocate General to explain the parameters that the government has followed for awarding the contracts.
In the petition, CGGC-Soma joint venture took serious objection over the awarding of contract and stated that the authorities have violated the procedures. It also said that the SEW-Patel-AMR joint venture lacked expertise and the capacity to execute the irrigation project works. It appealed to the court to cancel the tenders. (INN)
