Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday reiterated that he would continue his fight against the State Government for its ‘anti-farmer’ policies.
Talking to media persons after launching his Rythu Porubata after performing pooja at Varasiddhi Vinayaka Temple at Kanipakam, Naidu slammed the government for not responding to farmers’ problems despite their pathetic condition due to heavy debts. He criticized the government for not rescuing farmers by taking adequate relief measures and announcing minimum support price for their produce.
Blaming the government for its failure to supply nine hours of power to farmers as promised in the election manifesto, he said the government has no moral right to propose increase in the power tariff which would put a heavy burden on consumers.
Stating that crops worth thousands of crores were destroyed in 85 lakh hectares across the state, he said that the farmers lost Rs 17,000 crores due to inadequate supply of power. Apart from farmers, the industrial sector suffered a loss of Rs 32,000 crores due to power crisis in the state, he pointed out.
Responding to inducting of two candidates from Praja Rajyam into Cabinet, Naidu said that the Congress leaders have been fighting for ministerial posts while ignoring the people’s problems. He alleged that former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has accumulated wealth of over Rs one lakh crores for his son and Y S R Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy. He also described Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana as the `Liquor Don’ for his alleged nexus with the liquor syndicate.
Earlier, Naidu was given a rousing welcome at Renigunta Airport when he came from Hyderabad in a Spicejet flight. Srikalahasti MLA Bojja Gopalakrishna Reddy and Nagiri MLA G Muddu Krishnama Naidu, District TDP president Mahadevanaidu, Praveen Reddy, Kodela Hemalatha received the TDP chief and took him to Kanipakam, the temple town in the district.
