NCM chairperson meets CM over Minorities

National Commission for Minorities chairperson Wajahat Habibullah expressed his satisfaction and happiness over the programmes taken up for the welfare of the minorities and their effective implementation by the State Government.

After calling upon Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at his camp office here on Friday, Habibullah hoped that Andhra Pradesh would become a role model State in the country as far as Minorities welfare was concerned.

The NCM chairperson gave several suggestions towards which the Chief Minister responded positively and assured that he would definitely consider them.

Before calling on the Chief Minister, the NCM Chairman was briefed in detail about the ongoing welfare programmes for the Minorities taken up by the Government of Andhra Pradesh, specially the steps taken up by the government in providing scholarships to students, protection of Waqf properties, compensation to youth affected after the Mecca Majid blast, loans being provided to Muslim women under the Self Help Group scheme, strengthening school education and the recruitment being done in a big way in different Government departments and also equitable representation being given for Minorities in Rajiv Yuva Kiranalu.
