Sonia assures Chiranjeevi of a suitable post

Actor-turned Politician and Congress leader K Chiranjeevi on Wednesday stated that Congress president Sonia Gandhi assured him of giving a responsible and respectable position and utilize his services for strengthening the party position in the state.

Talking to media persons after emerging out of meeting with Sonia Gandhi, Chiranjeevi said that the decision on his new post would be announced at an appropriate time. She also assured that party cadre of the erstwhile PRP too would be given suitable posts as per their capability. However, he said that he did not mount any pressure on Sonia Gandhi for a suitable post.

Chiranjeevi said that he had explained the latest situation in Andhra Pradesh to Sonia Gandhi.

Chiranjeevi said that the merger of PRP into the Congress has averted the possible threats by the opponents to the government and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy can continue his remaining tenure. Responding to a question, he said the state cabinet expansion was not figured in their talks.

When the reporters asked Chiranjeevi on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati moving a resolution in the assembly over division of state, he said that Mayawati’s move was politically motivated.

Stating that Telangana statehood did not figured in their talks, which lasted for about half-an-hour, Chiranjeevi said that he would abide by the high command’s decision on the issue. He said that he informed about his son Ram Charan Teja’s engagement on December 1. However, he did not invite her for the engagement ceremony.

This was Chiranjeevi’s first meeting with Sonia Gandhi after the formal merger of PRP with the Congress. (INN)
