Dostana is a leave your brains behind comedy! Get that straight. Dostana is not a subtle comedy where the comedy punch and the timing matter most. It is more of an in your face comedy where the antics speak as much as the lines do. It also features a smooch – the first of its kind in Indian film history and we refuse to tell you more! India's 'first gay film', turns out be alarmingly insensitive towards gays, but it never claimed to a sensitive film in the first place!

What is it about: The film is about Kunal (John Abraham) and Sameer (Abhishek Bachchan), two bachelors who are on the lookout for a place to stay in Miami. They both end up reaching the same place and are told by the landlady that Baby lives alone there and she only wants babies to live there, not babas. Abhishek and John decide that they will pretend to be gay to stay in the apartment. Baby, with whom they are supposed to share the apartment turns out to be the stunningly beautiful Neha (Priyanka Chopra). Kunal and Sam, both fall in love with Neha and how the story ends happily ever after should be seen in the movie.

What is Good: The film does not even pretend to be a serious film ever and dismisses most of its sentimental moments with a riotous joke. John Abraham shows more skin than Priyanka Chopra and we do not know if that is a good thing, but by the hoots and catcalls of the female population in the theater, we assume it was a good thing. Abhishek Bachchan immerses himself into the character and gives it the required groove. Priyanka Chopra sizzles and even though the clothes seem to be getting smaller every scene, not one of them looks remotely obscene. Boman Irani, Kirron Kher pitch in with over-the-top cameos and Bobby Deol does quite well in a restrained role. The film's music is great, the locales of Miami are lovely, camerawork, editing, art design are all cool.

What is not: Gay rights activists or even people who are sensitive towards gay issues will definitely be up in arms against the film. Also, Yashraj and now Dharma seem to be stretching (or should I say shrinking) the line between sensuous and obscene. The Shilpa Shetty song has so many climpily clad females, not to mention John who is continually trying to pull his shorts down that one really wonders what happened to the family movies tradition that used to exist at some point in time. Also, some of the gags do fall flat and run longer than they should.

Me Thinks:If you even think about thinking during the duration of the movie, you will find enough and more loopholes to end up not liking the movie. Dostana is strongly advised for people who want to see a madcap comedy about a hitherto unseen topic on Indian screens (but for the Kantaben joke in Kal Ho Na Ho). Dostana is fun as long as it lasts.

Tailpiece: There is a nice touch in the movie, that of using Amitabh Bachchan's songs as background score for most of the 'important' scenes in the film. And Priyanka Chopra should be doing more such roles.
