Ganesh is being projected as Ram’s third consecutive success after his previous superhits which were Ready and Maska. Like these earlier two movies, Ganesh also takes the clean family entertainer route which might just about help it make a box-office impact giving Ram his hat-trick of hits.

What is it about : Ganesh (Ram) is your ideal friend who steps in help his friends in any situation as he is an orphan with no one to call his own. His best friend is under pressure to marry a girl of his parent’s choice and so Ram steps in to woo the prospective bride Divya (Kajal). This is to ensure the marriage plan gets cancelled and his friend can get married to his girlfriend. Predictably, Ganesh move into Kajal’s apartment complex and with the help of a bunch of naughty, lovable kids (who think he is “Superman”) woos Kajal easily. Soon he realizes that he truly likes her while she gets to know of his original intentions. The rest of the movie is about how he keeps trying to prove his love for her in different ways while she doesn’t give-in until a very tame climax. He is helped here again by the kids as well Kajal’s best friend played by Poonam Kaur. The villainy is provided Mahadev (Ashish Vidyarthi) a local goon who gets beaten up by Ganesh at regular intervals.

What is Good: Overall the movie is a very light entertainer with very minimal doses of “sentiment”. The comedy is all about one-liners and does not get slapstick or vulgar. Ram is the main attraction of the movie and he delivers a sincere performance as Ganesh. Kajal Agarwal is OK in her role as the head-strong girl who does not forgive easily. Poonam Kaur delivers a good supporting performance as she had done previously in “Vinayukudu”. The kids in the apartment complex are quite appealing with their antics as well their firm belief that Ganesh is the real “Superman”. Brahmanandam rocks in his role as Yadagiri who is a self proclaimed don.

What is bad: The movie tends to drag quite a bit in the second half when Ram is trying to woo her back. The script throws up many situations which don’t really take the movie forward as Kajal refuses to forgive Ram. The other weak link is the villainy sub-plot which seems forced into the script so that some action scenes can be incorporated and this does no justice to Ashish Vidyarthi’s caliber. The music by Mickey Meyer doesn’t make any impact despite six songs playing out.

Me Thinks: Ganesh can be watched for the timepass quotient it provides which will draw in the family audiences. It definitely does not match up to Ready or Maska at any point.

Tailpiece: After many years, Rohini Hattangadi makes a special appearance in tollywood again in small role.
