Manchu Vishnu is back with his next movie Vasthadu Naa Raju in style with director Hemanth Madhukar, for whom this will be his first Telugu film. The music for this movie has been rendered by Mani Sharma, who makes it a point to give good compositions for first time directors. Let’s see how good this album is.

1. Hello Everybody
Singer: Ranjith
Lyricis: Ramajogayya Sastry

Vasthadu Naa Raju Mani Sharma starts off nicely with guitars in this song written by Ramajogayya Sastry. While the lyrics cater to the masses, Mani Sharma uses interesting combo of violins and drums to make it entertaining. Ranjith seems more comfortable as a singer these days than he used to be previously, and it is visible …err audible!

2. Pada Pada
Singers: Hemachandra, Malavika
Lyrics: Vennelakanti

Vasthadu Naa Raju With Pada Pada Mani Sharma adds a touch of class as he stretches the first stanza. The way he generates gaps between violins, drums, guitars, ghatam and mridangam make you keep listening to this song. Infact the orchestration gives us a feeling that probably Mani Sharma is back with a good one, after sometime! Vennelakanti teases with the lyrics, but it is Malavika’s voice that is far more enticing. Hemachandra is good too.

3. Sadaymiya
Singers: Ranjith, Rita
Lyrics: Vennelakanti

Vasthadu Naa Raju An out and out ‘mass number’ Sadaymiya is aimed to get you dancing. Vennelakanti’s lyrics touch folk style, but remain true blue Telugu cinema song. Mani Sharma adds a variation reminding us of 80s style Telugu songs. Rita overshadows Ranjith, here.

4. Kalagane Vela
Singers: Sri Ramachandra, Saindhavi
Lyrics: Bhaskarabhatla

Vasthadu Naa Raju Kalagane Vela has quite a unique start with keyboards, as the bass guitar adds a sensuous touch. Saindhavi is terrific, reminding us of Harini, especially with Bhaskarabhatla’s lyrics having teluguthanapu shringaram all over them. Just when you think it is a good song, Mani Sharma brings Sarod and Veena zapping you out of your mind. Wow! You might ask why he wasn’t doing such things in the last few albums. Sri Ramachandra is good too, and the song deserves to be played again!

5. Olla
Singers: Ranjith, Janani
Lyrics: Vishwa

Vasthadu Naa Raju Etched completely in techno beat Olla, is too fast for its meaning - probably, because it’s an ‘item number’. Vishwa uses the right words, as much as the tune demands from him. Mani Sharma makes this one an intriguing number mixing techno with groove and then adding electric guitars. Interesting!

6. Naathone Nuvvu
Singers: Saketh, Saindhavi
Lyrics: Ramajogayya Sastry

Vasthadu Naa Raju After a complete techno in the previous song, this one is a complete turnaround. Naathone Nuvvu is a soothing number, with simple lyrics. Ramajogayya Sastry’s lyrics and Rahman-ish violins touch the pathos of a boy and a girl who are distanced from each other. Singers Saketh and Saindhavi keep the pathos for real with their vocal contributions.

7. Yedo Yedo
Singers: Ramajogayya Sastry
Lyrics: Karthik, Chaitra

Vasthadu Naa Raju Yedo Yedo is a duet tuned in tribal style, and sung exceptionally well by Chaitra and Karthik. Together Ramajogayya’s words and Mani Sharma’s music makes you wonder if you are listening to a Keeravani’s tune for a K. Raghavendra Rao’s film! Saxophone gives it a sensuous feel, carried throughout the song with the flute. Good one.

Final Point : Overall, the songs of Vasthadu Naa Raju, are good to listen to. Yes they are inclined more towards appeasing the masses, but Mani Sharma manages to make it listenable for everyone. Kalagane Vela is one of his best compositions, while Yedo Yedo and Olla prove his versatility. This album could well be the shot in the arm he needed to get back with bigger hits. Manchu Vishnu will be a happy producer and actor. The album will send positive vibes about the film.
