Continuing with the flow of small budget films, this week saw the release of Pora Pove. Starring all new comers, this film is a young college love story which is directed by Lankapally Srinivas. Let’s now see how the film is.
Story:-
The basic story deals with the lives of two youngsters Sri Chaitanya(Soumya Sukumar) and Vikas( Karan). As both these youngsters study in non coeducational schools, they get easily attracted to each other the moment they join college.
Twist in the tale comes when Chaitanya comes to know that, Vikas had wooed both her best friends, before falling in love with her. Rest of the story is as to how Vikas solves his problems, and wins his love back.
Plus Points:-
Even though the story is simple and cliched, the director managed to entertain the audience to an extent. Some college teasing and romantic scenes between the lead pair have been executed well.
Music of the film is quite good, and is a huge bonus for the movie. Soumya Sukumar performs to the best of her capabilities. First half has quite a few funny scenes, and the second half goes on an emotional note.
Yet another saving grace of the movie, is that there are no major padding artists who come in separate tracks and irritate the audience. Roles done by comedy show Jabardasth stars bring in few laughs.
Minus Points:-
Story of the film in quite old, and has nothing new to offer. Even the twists and turns are quite predictable, and one can easily know as to what will happen in the next scene.
Hero of the film is quite a let down. For a story which is centered on him, and three girls whom he woos, the makers could have opted for a better actor. Even though new comer Karan acts quite OK, he needs to improve on his look and screen presence quite rigorously.
There is absolutely no chemistry between the lead pair in the film. Even though they are in love from the first half, that does not come across on screen any where in the film. Story of the film takes shape only during the second half just before the pre-climax.
Technical Aspects:-
As said earlier, music by Yajamania is quite impressive. This young music director, has good talent which will surely take him a long way. All the songs composed are very good, and have also been shot nicely by the director.
Production values look quite decent, and so is the camera work.. College campus and other locations have been shot quite well. Screenplay of the movie is OK as the director does not add unnecessary scenes and tracks to spoil the flow of the film.
Editing is OK, and so are the dialogues. They have been written keeping the youngsters in mind and some times have a tinge of double meaning. Background score of the movie is also quite good.
Verdict:-
On the whole, Pora Pove is one film which has absolutely nothing new in terms of concept and story. But the simple way with which the film is narrated is the saving grace. An even more suitable and better star cast, could have made this film a bit interesting
