The movie Oosaravelli hit the screens today amidst very high expectations. Young Tiger NTR and stylish director Surender Reddy teamed up once again to come up with this action thriller and NTR has Tamanna for company in this movie. The movie released in a big way across the world with a maximum number of prints and theaters. Let us see how the movie fares.

Story: Tony (NTR) is a professional goon for hire. He is a very unstable guy and those around him find it extremely difficult to estimate him. He changes himself quite a lot according to the situations and therefore those around him call him ‘oosaravelli’. He meets Niharika (Tamanna) in unusual circumstances and falls in love with her. Niharika tries to avoid him at first but soon falls for NTR’s charms. On the sidelines, Tony sets about hunting down Ajju Bhai ( Prakash Raj) and his gang. Niharika also has a past and her life is connected to Tony’s in a strange way. What is the connection between Tony and Niharika? Why does Tony hunt down Ajju Bhai? And does Tony really love Niharika? This is what the story is all about.

Whats Good: This is a very new attempt by NTR and he must be appreciated for having the courage to take up such a role. Probably no other top hero of his generation would have allowed Tamanna to walk away with such prominence and screen time. NTR’s histrionics have always been his asset and it is no different this time. His acting skills are top notch. He tried his hand at understated comedy in this movie and he did a pretty good job. His dance in the number ‘Dandia India’ is fantastic and reminds us of his Yamadonga days.

Kudos to Tamanna for delivering a stunning performance in this movie. Especially in a few scenes in the second half, she literally towers over the movie and even completely overshadows NTR. Her scenes where she pleads for help in front of Lord Anjaneya are just stupendous. She looks ultra chic in some scenes and traditional in others. Overall, a solid performance that now adds greater appeal to her beauty.

The first half of the movie is pretty lively most of the time with some good comedy scenes involving Raghubabu, Jayaprakash Reddy and NTR. The romantic scenes between NTR and Tamanna came out well and their chemistry is good.Prakash Raj is OK. Payal Ghosh is decent as Tamanna’s friend.

Niharika Niharika and Nenante Naku were shot well.

What is Bad: The screenplay and direction go for a toss in the second half. The director should have taken more care in the narration as things go downhill from the interval onwards. The climax could have been handled better. Fans of NTR from B and C centers may be disappointed as there is not much scope for heroism and commercial elements from NTR in this role.

Even in the dancing department, NTR does not have any chance to showcase his dancing talent except in Dandiya India. Prakash Raj is becoming repetitive in his Don characters and he needs to take care.Kick Shyam and M.S.Narayana make cameo appearances but they fail to make any impact. Shayaji Shinde is wasted in an incomplete role.

We can make out Surender Reddy’s attempts to induce some amount of commercial elements into the movie but they don’t gel well with the overall theme of the story. He should have stuck to his original intention.

Technical Departments : A tighter screenplay and a more ‘logical’ second half would have done wonders for the film. Cinematography is pretty good and the songs look great on screen. Editing is ok. Choreography is good for Dandiya India and Niharika. The song Brathakali has some innovative graphics.

Koratala Siva’s dialogues are ok in places but this movie does not allow NTR to indulge in his usual punch dialogues. Devi Sri Prasad’s music is good and the background score is an asset to the movie.

Verdict: Oosaravelli has some solid performances from NTR and Tamanna and the first half is pretty decent. It is in the second half that the movie starts to falter a bit and the weak climax does not help it at all. Go without any expectations about a regular high energy NTR offering and you might just enjoy Tamanna’s fabulous performance and NTR’s dances. Regular NTR fans and people from the B and C centers might find it difficult to enjoy this movie.
