After a long gap, Legendary actor Kamal Haasan is back with a straight Telugu film Cheekati Rajyam. On the eve of the film’s release, we caught up with Kamal sir for a brief interview. Let’s see what he has to say.
Q)What is the reason behind doing a straight Telugu film after a long gap ?
Whenever I come to Hyderabad, fans have always asked me to do a straight Telugu film. That is the only reason behind doing a direct Telugu film.
Q)Tell us about Cheekati Rajyam?
Cheekati Rajyam will surely entertain the audience. We are releasing the Tamil version on November 10th and the Telugu Version will be released on the 20th. The reason behind the delay is for a bigger release and more number of theaters.
Q)What is the reason behind taking French movie Sleepless Night as an inspiration ?
I was quite impressed with Sleepless Night and decided to set it to Indian nativity.
Q)Have you made any changes for the Telugu version?
Yes, some scenes have been changed to suit Telugu nativity. We have added a lot of action and emotional episodes in the film.
Q)What is the main reason behind choosing Selvan as the director for this film ?
I always encourage young and new talent in the industry and was very impressed with Selvan’s work.
Q)Tell us about your dream project Marudhanayagam?
I spent nearly 8.7 Crores for my dream project Marudhanayagam. Currently I am in talks with a Hollywood production house to restart the project. I’ll announce more details about the film soon.
Q)What are your upcoming projects ?
As of now, I am doing a project under the direction of Rajeev. It will also feature Amala Akkineni , Zarina Wahab and a new actress. The film will be shot simultaneously in both Tamil and Telugu.
