Vijay Antony’s upcoming film Roshagadu has triggered a new controversy in Tamil film industry. The Tamil version is titled Thimiru Pudichavan and it has been directed by Ganesha. Nivetha Pethuraj is the lead actress, whereas Vijay Antony will be seen as a cop.
The film’s Tamil version was supposed to release on November 6; however, the makers backed out since Sarkar was also slated for release on the same day. When the team announced that the film is going to release on November 16, it has upset the producers of three other films, including Jyothika’s Kaatrin Mozhi, who are also releasing their films on the same date.
Earlier this year, a new rule was introduced in Tamil film industry which makes it mandatory for producers to seek an approval for a release date from the producer’s association. The rule was introduced to ensure that both big and small films got ample number of screens and to avoid congestion at the box office. Now, producers have alleged that Vijay Antony’s film breaks this rule and that everyone will end up incurring loses if the film is allowed to release on the same date. It remains to be seen how this controversy is going to be resolved in near future.
