It is well known that the South Indian film market is expanding with each passing day and is dominating Bollywood films from the past few years. Films like Enthiran, Baahubali series, Mersal and Sarkar are proof for how the business is expanding for South films.
Rajinikanth-Sankar’s 2010 film Enthiran had grossed Rs 250 crores worldwide and emerged one of the top grossers at that time. And then, Rajinikanth’s gangster drama, Kabali, also stormed into the 250 gross club. Later, SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali part 1 and part 2 collected much more than 250 crores.
Last but not least, Tamil Superstar Vijay’s last year’s film Mersal and his recent outing Sarkar also collected over 250 crore gross. With this, a total of six movies from the South Indian Cinema industry have joined the elite Rs 250 crore gross club.
With a few more days left for the visual wonder, 2.0 to hit screens, we will have to wait and see if this sci-fi thriller can take the Southern Cinema’s market to an international level.
