For the last couple of years, fans of master filmmaker Mani Ratnam have been eagerly waiting for his ambitious historical magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan, based on legendary Tamil author Kalki’s Ponniyin Selvan. The film will finally be going on floors from December.
Now, an exciting update reveals that there will be a total of 12 songs in Ponniyin Selvan. Mani’s longtime collaborator and Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman will score the film’s soundtrack. This latest update has added fuel to the ongoing speculations that Ponniyin Selvan will be released as a two-part franchise.
Ponniyin Selvan features some of India’s leading stars such as Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Mohan Babu, Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Jayaram and several others. Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies will bankroll this mammoth project in association with Lyca Productions.
