Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s passion project, Dear Comrade, released last year and ended up as a failure at the box-office. Even though the film had managed to earn some critical acclaim for the lead actors’ performances and its sensitive subject, a majority of the audience and critics had given it a thumbs down.
In a latest interview with popular film critics Baradwaj Rangan and Anupama Chopra, Vijay opened up about how deeply Dear Comrade’s failure had affected. He said that there was a whole propaganda, where one can pay money to get a film written off and can get people to antagonize it on social media platforms.
“The whole business aspect, the industry, the politics that surround a film – that put me off, that affected me,” Vijay said, also adding that he later got over it, telling himself, ‘This is how the world is, fair to none.’ It’s like a jungle, you have to fight for your survival.”
